Howarth, CHME, CHE Chapter President BOSTON HSMAI EARNS AWARDS AT NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Boston, Massachusetts (February 20, 2012) – The Board of Directors of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Boston Chapter, Inc. is pleased to announce that the chapter was awarded the 2011 Frank W. Berkman Best of the Best Award for Educational Programming – Medium Chapter and the 2011 HSMAI Rising Star Award for Leadership at the 2012 Annual HSMAI Leadership Conference on February 13th at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The HSMAI Boston Chapter is one of the oldest HSMAI Chapters in the association dating back to 1935. The chapter was recognized for its recent accomplishments in restoring member value and chapter growth. Margie Sheffer, CHME, CHA, Director of Chapter Relations, announced that the chapter’s 2011 mission was accomplished. She stated, “Membership increased to 120 members representing a 32% growth over 2010 and event attendance increased 40%. The turnaround is palatable, as is the energy and enthusiasm of the board and newly engaged members.” HSMAI is a global organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry.
